Kids & Families! All Are Welcome! Learn some kid-friendly Diasporic History while dancing and playing games to celebrate Traditional West African, Latin/Afro-Caribbean, Hip Hop & Even Vogue! This is all about having fun and celebrating the lineage of Black & Brown rhythm, movement, wellness and activism!

12PM - W*ACKING: THE ESSENCE EXPERIENCE

The Essence Experience’s class format is based on physically engaging waacking while giving the opportunity to experience one’s essence. While activating each part of the body, it allows freestyle (improvisation) to happen naturally and rooted in music. Arm drills, control, lines, walks and character exploration, are just a few of the elements we will examine while linking them to the music of the Disco and House eras.

Learn more about the history of the Orisha Tradition and it's roots in African, Afro-Caribbean and Contemporary Afro-Diasporic culture. We will be singing songs and engaging in discussion around the intersections of culture, music, song, storytelling, spirituality and community.

4PM - MANDE WEST AFRICAN DANCE

Explore, support, preserve, and celebrate traditional West African Dance from the Mande culture in Mali, accompanied by live Djembe and Djun Djun players. Seydou Couilibaly is the co-founder and co-director of The Yeredon Centre and his daughter, Sita Coulibaly, is a founder + co-director of The Haus of Glitter and is the Director of Legacy Arts & Education for The Yeredon Centre.

Explore this unique dance style "VOGUE AFRIK" coined by Ousmane "Omari" Wiles, merging his lineges of West African Dance, Vogue Femme, Modern, and House as one.

Learn a fusion of dancehall and vogue femme choreography from the world-renowned dancer, choreographer, Ballroom Performance ICON and HBO's 'Legendary' WINNER, Arturo Mugler.
